Terms of service
The rules for using plaingateway. Plain English first; where a point is not settled yet, it says to be confirmed.
Effective date: to be confirmed. Questions: support@plaingateway.com.
1. Who we are
plaingateway runs an API gateway at plaingateway.com. It forwards your requests to AI model providers and charges a prepaid balance for each one.
The legal entity behind plaingateway, its registered address and its registration number: to be confirmed.
Contact: support@plaingateway.com.
2. Accepting these terms
You accept these terms when you create an account or send a request with one of your API keys.
If you use plaingateway for a company, you confirm that you may accept these terms for it.
We may change these terms. We post the new version here and change the effective date. Use after a change means you accept it. For a change that takes something away from you, we email the account address first.
3. Your account and keys
- Give a working email address. We send receipts and account notices there.
- Keep your password and API keys secret. Every request made with your key is charged to your balance, whoever sends it.
- Revoke a key on the API keys page as soon as you think it has leaked. Requests made before you revoke it stay charged.
- One person or company may hold more than one account, but not to collect sign-up or referral credit more than once.
4. Prepaid balance
- plaingateway is prepaid. You add money first, and each request takes its cost from your balance.
- The minimum top-up, the first-day funding limit and any first-funding bonus are shown on the sign-up and credits pages before you pay. Those pages are the current numbers.
- Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
- Each request's cost is returned with the response and listed under Activity. Usage is posted to your balance in hourly totals.
- When your balance runs out, requests are refused until you add money or auto top-up adds it for you.
- Bonus and referral credit can be spent on requests only. It cannot be withdrawn as money.
- Whether an unused balance expires: to be confirmed.
- Refunds of an unused balance: to be confirmed. Until this is settled, write to support and we answer each request by hand.
- When a payment is refunded or disputed, we take the refunded amount back off your balance, together with any bonus or referral credit it earned.
- Taxes are shown at checkout and on the invoice. Which taxes apply where: to be confirmed.
5. Prices
Each model's price per token is on its model page, next to the provider's list price. A price change applies to requests sent after it is published, never to a request already served.
If a host reports token counts in an unusual way, we may estimate them. An estimated request is marked as estimated in your activity.
6. Acceptable use
You may not use plaingateway to:
- break the law, or help someone else break it;
- break the usage policy of the model provider that serves your request;
- attack, overload or probe plaingateway or any provider;
- resell access to plaingateway in a way that hides it from us, or share one key among unrelated customers;
- pay with a card or account you are not allowed to use, or game the sign-up or referral credit.
We may refuse a request, pause a key or suspend an account that breaks these rules. If we can, we tell you why first.
7. The service
- Your requests are served by third-party model providers. Their answers are their own; we do not check or edit them.
- Check model output before you rely on it. You are responsible for how you use it.
- We aim to keep the gateway available, but we do not promise it never fails. Live health is on the status page.
- A model or host can be added, changed or removed. A removed model returns an error, not a different model under the same name.
8. Liability
plaingateway is provided as it is. As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses such as lost profit or lost data.
Our total liability to you for any claim is at most what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. The law of which country governs these terms, and which courts hear a dispute: to be confirmed.
9. Ending your account
You can delete your account from Preferences at any time. Your keys stop working at once. Your balance and records stay with us, so we can restore the account if you ask. See the privacy policy for what we keep.
We may close an account that breaks these terms. What happens to its unused balance then: to be confirmed.
